Sondai Fort Monsoon trek 2023

Panoramic valley views from atop an old fortress accessed by ladders & trekking past waterfalls.

This is a nice place. The name is a misnomer, it is not a fort. They say it was used to keep a watch around. The place is around 70 kms from Mumbai by road. We visited on a Saturday and it was not crowded. It has gained popularity lately. The trek is easy, barring the two steep stretches. I suggest carrying right pair of shoes, common running shoes might be troublesome. It takes around 1 hour to climb up, you may take a water/soda/maggi break en route; there are plenty of shops. The view from the top is beautiful – all the hillocks and the lake. Basking in the cool breeze is amazing. Beware of monkeys.
